Toilet paper didn’t always exist. The original toilet paper was the medicinal herb “Wooly Lamb’s Ear”.
Brought over from England it was used back in the old days. A smart plant choice because of its soft leaves and it was easily accessible. Back then how to make toilet paper was as simple as planting a garden.

We have a cast iron frying pan that we’ll be packing away for a few months and yes it is one of the items that will end up with us in Ecuador. Why? The frying pan is at least 45 years old, we used it camping when I was a child and we continue to use it and it is still the best frying pan I’ve ever used.
Cast iron pots and pans need to be “seasoned” every so often and it’s what I will be doing to our fry pan to put it to bed until it rejoins us in our new residence.
Here is a great post that describes everything you ever wanted to know about taking care of cast iron and were afraid to ask … so I thought I’d share the link!
Thanks to the What’s Cooking America website for the post: Cast Iron Skillets, Cast Iron Pans, Cast Iron Cookware, Seasoning Cast Iron, How To Season Cast Iron, How to Clean Cast Iron.
This book teaches how to turn human and animal waste into compost safely. Very detailed and informative it’s a book worth reading if you’re interested in the concept of reusing animal and human waste. We will be using this method until we set up our bio-gas system.
Thanks to author Joseph Jenkins for writing this excellent book.
